About
I believe there is as much of a science to design as there is an art. Without both the design will not succeed.
I grew up in Severna Park, Maryland, and started as a fine artist, oil paintings and pencil drawings. My father is a hard-working mechanical engineer with extreme discipline and a laser focus. My mother is a business woman and a natural connector with a network bigger than I can wrap my head around. Growing up between those two, precision on one side and people on the other, I felt pulled in two directions before I ever picked a career.
Graphic design turned out to be where both sides landed. I use the technical precision I got from my father to build functional, exact design work, and the ability to connect with people I got from my mother to build real relationships with the people I work with. Put together, that's a one-man team that can take an idea from concept to finished product without losing anything in the handoff. I've spent over eight years between agency and in-house work, and ten years freelancing on top of that. The passion that started in my room as a kid hasn't faded. If anything it's stronger now, and I'd like to think the work I do makes a real impact, even if that impact is just on one person.
